About the Role
Reporting to the CFO, this newly created Financial Controller role sits within the OpCo, supporting the Security & Resilience Practice. The position offers significant exposure across the business and a central role in ensuring robust financial management, reporting, and control.
You will lead a small, high‑performing finance team and take ownership of financial reporting, management information, and core finance processes. Alongside this, you will act as a key business partner to the Practice Director, supporting financial performance and commercial decision‑making across the project portfolio.
The role requires close engagement with internal stakeholders across practices and project teams, as well as external stakeholders including auditors and banking partners. You will also play a key role in driving the continued development of finance systems, processes, and controls as the business scales.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute during a period of growth, with the business pursuing both organic expansion and M&A activity.
About You
You are a qualified Financial Controller with strong technical grounding and a commercial mindset. You are comfortable operating in a hands‑on role, while also providing leadership and direction to a finance team.
You bring experience of delivering high‑quality financial reporting, alongside the ability to partner effectively with non‑finance stakeholders to support decision‑making. You are organised, detail‑oriented, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clear variance analysis
- Deliver high‑quality financial reporting to support internal and external stakeholders
- Manage cashflow forecasting and financial planning processes
- Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing reforecasting
Business Partnering & Commercial Support
- Partner closely with the Practice to drive financial performance and commercial discipline across projects
- Support project teams with financial oversight, reporting, and decision‑making
- Communicate financial information clearly to non‑finance stakeholders
Finance Operations & Controls
- Lead the finance function, ensuring robust, scalable processes, controls, and procedures
- Oversee VAT returns and compliance with UK financial regulations
- Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, processes, and reporting
Systems & Process Development
- Support the ongoing development and optimisation of the ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics)
- Contribute to finance transformation and process improvement initiatives
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and develop the finance team
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and advisors, leading the year‑end audit process
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Key Skills and Experience
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Minimum 5 years’ post‑qualified experience
- Experience operating within the services sector, ideally with exposure to project‑based accounting
- Experience of group reporting and consolidations
- Experience working in a multi‑currency environment
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to support and influence decision‑making
- Advanced Excel skills and high level of financial modelling capability
