Overview
Three Shires Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join its Pharmacy Department. The role is full‑time (37.5 hours per week) and permanently based in Northampton.
Salary is up to £45,500 per year, depending on experience, training and qualification.
Responsibilities
- Conduct medication reviews for inpatients and outpatients, identifying interactions, contraindications and opportunities for medicines optimisation.
- Provide tailored advice to patients on their treatment plans, addressing side‑effects, compliance and lifestyle considerations.
- Support safe prescribing through reconciliation, clinical screening and dose adjustment.
- Review and authorise prescriptions in line with clinical guidelines, formulary restrictions and regulatory requirements.
- Promote the safe and cost‑effective use of medicines by supporting adherence to local and national policies.
- Collaborate with procurement, stock control and pharmacy technicians to ensure medicine availability and supply continuity.
- Monitor and report medication incidents, near misses and adverse drug reactions in line with hospital protocols and MHRA guidance.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A degree in pharmacy (MPharm, BSc or BPharm).
- GPhC registration as a pharmacist.
- Previous experience in a clinical hospital pharmacy role.
- Strong knowledge of therapeutics, clinical guidelines and pharmaceutical legislation.
- Excellent communication and clinical decision‑making skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Confidence in using electronic prescribing and medication administration systems (e.g., EPMA).
