Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen to take an active role in shaping mental health provision within the newly formed Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a Practitioner Psychologist to join the Portsmouth and Southeast Hampshire acute services, blending roles to provide a connected approach in working with patients who are acutely unwell. The role is an opportunity to work part time within the Acute Psychology Service based at The Orchards Psychiatric Unit, working with inpatients and outpatients under the Portsmouth Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team. This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to help build psychological skills within a well‑established team. The post‑holder will contribute to shaping the vision and delivery of the Acute Psychology Team assessment and intervention by working with other psychologists and in training and supervision of other members of the team. This role will also enable you to build on your service evaluation and research skills as well as supervising CAPs and trainee clinical psychologists on placement.

Responsibilities

Provide acute psychological assessment and intervention for inpatients and outpatients within the acute services. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver psychologically informed practice. Train and supervise CAPs and trainee clinical psychologists. Contribute to service evaluation and research activities. Shape and promote the vision and delivery of the Acute Psychology Team.

Qualifications

Motivated and committed with experience working with people who have complex mental health problems. Proven track record of developing clinical interventions suitable for an inpatient or crisis setting. Ability to lead healthcare professionals delivering high‑quality psychological interventions efficiently to people experiencing acute mental health crises.
