Consultant Orthodontist in Cleft Services and Child Dental Health

Consultant Orthodontist (Bristol Dental Hospital)

Applications are invited for an NHS funded post of Consultant Orthodontist at the Bristol Dental Hospital; part time 8 PA’s on a permanent contract. The appointee will be welcomed within an integrated and collegiate South West Cleft Service and Child Dental Health as part of the Orthodontic team. There is no on‑call commitment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership, dental advice, and treatment within Orthodontics, including management of cleft lip and palate, hypodontia, and jaw deformities.
• Run new patient referral clinics.
• Deliver personal treatment.
• Lead clinical postgraduate teaching.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary planning and review clinics.
• Engage in continuing education, professional development, audit, and research.
• Supervise NHS junior trainees.
• Collaborate with colleagues from other specialties within Multi‑Disciplinary Teams.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience or a particular interest in cleft lip and palate management.
• Advantageous: experience in hypodontia, jaw deformity, dental trauma, and ectopic teeth.
• Strong willingness to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Flexibility and a wide range of skills to meet the many challenges of this post.
