Education and Qualifications – Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (Adult) / Current NMC Registration
- Recognised qualification in palliative care, or working towards
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
- Demonstrate commitment to and recent evidence of further education and personal development
- Completion of V300 Non-medical prescribing or willing to undertake within 2 years
- Completion of Advanced clinical skills
Education and Qualifications – Desirable criteria
- Recent community nursing experience
- Palliative Care experience in non-cancer related areas
Knowledge and Experience – Essential criteria
- Demonstrates significant and recent clinical knowledge in palliative care
- Recent post registration experience / include experience of working in palliative setting
- Evidence of well-developed critical decision making skills which is evidence-based
- Sound knowledge and participation in research, measuring patient outcomes, audit
- Evidence of working with a wide range of people at all levels
- Demonstrates current knowledge of national and local policies and drivers
- Demonstrate a positive, flexible and adaptable attitude
- Forward thinking and proactive in decision making
- Led on audit/project management/service developments
- Demonstrates leadership in previously roles
Knowledge and Experience – Desirable criteria
- Recent community nursing experience
- Palliative Care experience in non-cancer related areas
Skills and Abilities – Essential criteria
- Ability to assess and monitor a patient’s holistic needs / supporting a complex caseload
- High level of clinical skills relevant to speciality
- Experience of advance care planning and supporting relatives/carers
- Ability to deliver advanced communication and advocacy skills
- Ability to promote a culture of patient-centred care, empathy and empowerment
- Able to respond flexibly to the changing needs of the service
- Ability to work autonomously, with initiative, recognising own limitations
- Experience of working within a pressurised environment
- Computer literate being able to write and maintain accurate documentation
Skills and Abilities – Desirable criteria
- Some experience of providing clinical advice, triaging referrals
Other Requirements – Essential criteria
- Car driver essential / Use of car and Current clean driving licence
