Band 8a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (mat cover)

We are looking for a Band 8a Senior Clinical / Counselling Psychologist to join our Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIIP) Service on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract covering maternity leave. This is an ideal opportunity for a Band 7 psychologist aiming for a senior role or an existing Band 8a wanting to develop experience in psychosis, family interventions and consultation.
The role offers professional development including service development, leadership responsibilities within the psychology team, supervision and teaching of colleagues, and provision of individual and group psychological interventions.
The post is based in our East Surrey Team at Horizon House in Epsom with a satellite base in Redhill. The psychologist will see clients across the area, with some remote working.
It is desirable that the candidate has a full and valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Main duties of the job
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the psychological needs of people using our services.
- Mentor, supervise and teach qualified and unqualified staff, including students.
- Promote a psychological perspective within teams and share with other colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with team managers/clinical leads in the development and delivery of effective services.
- Work flexibly within the service.
- Lead on complex and challenging cases and develop expertise within area of specialism.
- Participate in recruitment and selection of staff.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology.
- Completion of an appropriate clinical supervision course to enable supervision of trainees.
- HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist.
Experience
- Experience working with people across the lifespan with a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles.
- Experience across a range of psychological models, including systemic, behavioural and individual therapeutic.
- Demonstrable post‑registration/clinical experience and competency relevant to this care group.
- Experience contributing to clinical practice/service development/project work.

Salary
£59,798 to £67,020 a year (incl. 5% Fringe HCAS) per annum, pro rata.
