Overview

Trainee Service Engineer / Trainee Service Technician / Multiskilled Engineer required to join a global leading engineering manufacturer. The role involves providing electrical and mechanical repair, fault finding, and maintenance of compressed air equipment (compressors, vacuum pumps, blowers & dryers, nitrogen generators) at customer sites across Sussex and Kent, with occasional travel to Crawley for training and parts collection.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical and mechanical repair, service, fault finding and maintenance of compressed air equipment at customer sites.
  • Undertake planned and preventive maintenance and provide advice, diagnostics and fault finding of compressed air systems, nitrogen generators, vacuum pumps, blowers & dryers.
  • Install compressed air, water and nitrogen pipelines in various manufacturing settings.
  • Perform emergency breakdown fault finding and repairs on compressed air equipment.
  • Liaise with various engineering departments.
  • Travel to customer sites throughout Sussex and Kent, and occasionally to Crawley for training and parts collection.

Qualifications

  • Proven diagnostic skills on complex electrical or mechanical engineering systems.
  • Relevant experience as a trainee, apprentice, entry‑level engineer, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer or field service engineer.
  • Hands‑on experience in electrical and/or mechanical domains with a willingness to learn.
  • Strong understanding of three‑phase electrics and controls; hands‑on experience preferred.
  • Mechanical or electrical qualification, apprentice trained, NVQ level 3, city & guilds or similar is a plus.
  • Background in the compressed air industry or related electromechanical fields (compressors, filtration, pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, valves, rotating equipment) is advantageous.
  • Flexibility for occasional travel to Crawley for training and parts collection.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary £28,000 – £32,000 depending on experience.
  • Company van.
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
