Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with visual impairments to build confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing?
As our Children’s Sight Loss Counsellor, you will deliver one-to-one counselling and group sessions in schools and community settings, creating a safe and supportive environment.
You will work closely with families, carers, schools and professionals to provide holistic, person-centred support. Join our Low Vision team at Focus Birmingham and play a key role in shaping and developing a meaningful, accessible counselling service.
Shift: Monday – Friday
Focus Birmingham is an independent local charity that provides information, advice, support and care for people with visual impairment and complex needs. As a member of our staff team of knowledgeable and caring experts, we will help you continue to develop your skills, and provide you with the satisfaction of undertaking challenging and vital work that makes positive changes to the lives of the people we support.
Our charity HQ is based in Harborne, Birmingham. On-site we have a Low Vision Centre providing a comprehensive range of services enabling people to use their vision. From here we also run a programme of sight loss support services and multiple city-wide community engagement projects and activities. The site also hosts our Complex Needs Support Day Service which supports over 95 service users with profound and multiple learning disabilities. We also have a CQC registered supported living scheme in Kings Norton, Birmingham, consisting of 14 self-contained specially adapted living spaces for individuals with sight loss and complex needs.
