Transport Manager – Operations
Transport Manager role within a medium‑sized waste management, collection & recycling company operating in complex/high‑care environments across construction, energy, engineering and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Full responsibility for day‑to‑day transport operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance and strong commercial performance.
- Oversee driver management, including hands‑on management of approximately 30 drivers.
- Run the O Licence and maintain full compliance with transport legislation and operator requirements.
- Manage transport operations, including routing, planning and fleet utilisation to optimise vehicle performance, efficiency and downtime.
- Take ownership of cost control, KPIs and operational profitability.
- Work closely with planners and operational teams.
- Lead and manage drivers, ensuring performance and accountability.
- Maintain accurate records and audit readiness.
- Ensure reliable and timely service delivery, resolving customer issues and complaints effectively.
- Support maintaining accreditation standards, including Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).
Qualifications & Experience
- CPC qualified Transport Manager (minimum).
- Minimum 2 years managing drivers or operational teams.
- Experience using TMS, routing systems and MS Office.
- Good knowledge of the Oxfordshire area.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- IOSH or equivalent safety training.
- Office based; must be present, proactive and confident in managing drivers and challenging performance.
Employment Details
- Working hours: Monday to Friday 07:00 to 16:30.
- PPE requirements: in operational areas.
- Location: Oxfordshire (specific site not disclosed).
