As an Audit Assistant Manager, you will support the delivery of audit assignments across a portfolio of small and medium‑size businesses. You will take responsibility for planning, fieldwork, and completion stages of audits, while supervising junior staff and acting as a key point of contact for clients.
This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who is confident managing audits in a smaller practice environment where flexibility and client interaction are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Delivery
- Lead audits from planning through to completion
- Prepare and review audit files in line with UK auditing standards (ISA)
- Identify audit risks and design appropriate testing procedures
- Ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory requirements
Team Supervision
- Supervise and review work of audit juniors and semi‑seniors
- Provide on‑the‑job training and feedback
- Support workload allocation across audit assignments
Client Management
- Act as day‑to‑day contact for audit clients
- Attend client meetings and present findings where required
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, particularly with SMEs
Reporting & Compliance
- Draft statutory accounts and audit reports
- Liaise with directors on audit findings and recommendations
- Ensure timely completion of assignments within deadlines
Skills & Experience Required
- ACA / ACCA qualified or part‑qualified (finalists considered)
- Strong UK audit experience in a practice environment
- Experience with SME clients across multiple sectors
- Good understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS (basic IFRS exposure sufficient)
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
- Strong communication and client‑facing skills

- Comfortable working in a hands‑on, less structured environment
- Able to work independently without large team support structures
- Flexible and proactive approach to problem solving
- Willingness to support broader accounts and tax work when needed
