Contract Manager

Base Location: Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness, and Perth

Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Contract Managers to join our Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team supporting the ASTI Onshore Capital Delivery programme.

Reporting to the Procurement & Commercial Manager, you will provide the necessary pre and post contract procurement and commercial support to some of the largest projects within the SSEN Transmission. This is an excellent opportunity to grow within the SSE portfolio and contribute to the continued growth of this area of the business.

The role is best suited to someone from a Quantity Surveying background with experience working either on the client or contractor side. No specific experience working in the Energy sector is required but would be advantageous.

You will

• Support the P&C Manager/Senior CM in negotiating contract T&C's for projects of significant value (from £50M to £500M) and subsequent commercial management of the delivery phase.
• Negotiate contract prices and ensure all contract prices can be substantiated to provide value for money to consumers.
• Demonstrate extensive stakeholder engagement and management skills, and be able to influence, lead and resolve disputes with effective problem‑solving.
• Be involved in cost and forecast management via regular cost reporting, ensure change‑management procedures are adhered to, and manage payment and expenditure and cost estimating.
• Provide robust post‑contract commercial management that supports project goals and objectives, including negotiating/agreeing compensation events and ensuring that core principles of the Commercial Manual are implemented.
• Comply with all safety policies and procedures, and promote safety and safe working practices both internally and externally.

You have

• A degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification and be working towards professional membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS or CICES.
• Experience of estimating, sourcing management, cost & budget management, and contract administration.
• Experience of drafting and interpreting commercial contracts, knowledge of Standard Form construction contracts and bespoke contract arrangements, and experience of working with NEC.
