Location: HaltwhistleSalary: £30,000 rising to £35,000 within 6–12 monthsReporting to: R&D Manager

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for a laboratory professional looking to step into a supervisory‑level position within a structured, quality‑driven environment. You’ll initially join as a Quality Control Chemist, with a clear progression plan to QC/QA Supervisor once established in the role. You’ll play a key part in ensuring products meet required specifications while supporting compliance, audit readiness, and continuous improvement across quality systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct day‑to‑day testing of raw materials, in‑process samples, and finished products.
  • Work closely with manufacturing to investigate non‑conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records, and SOP updates.
  • Support internal and external audits (ISO, REACH, customer audits).
  • Oversee calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance activities, particularly ISO 9001.
  • Develop detailed quality procedures to ensure operational continuity.
  • Conduct or coordinate internal audits and lead when required.
  • Deliver staff training and promote quality awareness.
  • Review and support potential implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC).

  • Knowledge of COSHH and quality standards.
  • Exposure to ISO 9001 or ISO 14001 environments (audit experience advantageous).
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
