This role sits within the Mortgage Chief Information Office (CIO) function, part of Customer Technology (CT). The Mortgages area is responsible for enabling technology solutions that support our Mortgage business, putting customers and colleagues at the heart of everything we do.

You’ll report directly to the Mortgage Domain Lead in this highly visible, on‑the‑ground role across both the demand & engagement processes and the development of AI capability within Mortgages. You will work alongside the Senior Portfolio Manager, helping to define, shape and drive how demand is identified, prioritised, governed, and delivered.

You’ll also be accountable for proactively identifying high-value AI opportunities and supporting the driving forward of these. You’ll help us work with teams to move from insight and experimentation to scalable, business‑ready solutions.

This is a broad, hands‑on role for someone who is comfortable operating as an AI and portfolio leader rather than a coordinator. You’ll bring structure, clarity, and pace to portfolio and engagement activities, while actively supporting the adoption, integration, and scaling of AI across the Mortgage Technology landscape.

You’ll be expected to spot opportunities, challenge thinking and guide teams from experimentation through to embedded, production‑ready AI solutions that materially improve customer, colleague and business outcomes.

For this role, you’ll spend at least two days per week, or if part‑time, 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, London or Northampton office. If you’re an internal applicant based in a different location, we would welcome your application.

What you’ll be doing

You will be working in a highly visible, on‑the‑ground role reporting directly to the Mortgage Domain Lead and partnering closely with members of the Mortgage Leadership Team in supporting demand & engagement processes across the Mortgage technology portfolio.

Owning and driving the AI agenda within Mortgages will be the key driver of your daily role, working alongside the Domain Lead to set direction, build momentum, and ensure AI becomes a core, embedded capability.

You’ll also be driving AI “use cases” from concept through to delivery, guiding teams from insight and experimentation to scalable, production‑ready solutions that deliver tangible customer, colleague, and business impact.

About you

As a minimum, you will have:

• Working knowledge of the Mortgage portfolio, with an understanding of business drivers, technology delivery and the analytical foundations that support effective decision‑making.
• Experience in portfolio management, governance, operations, or strategic delivery within a technology or change environment.
• A keen, practical working interest in AI, with the ability to analyse emerging capabilities, evaluate opportunities and risks, and clearly articulate these in business language.
• A passion for improving colleague and customer experience through AI, with the curiosity and confidence to safely experiment, learn quickly and translate insight into practical, value‑adding solutions.
• The ability to define, shape and trace demand through to outcomes and benefits, using insight and analysis to maintain clear alignment between strategy, delivery and value.
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills, with experience producing high‑quality management information, dashboards and leadership reporting to support prioritisation, governance and decision‑making.
• Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders, including the ability to challenge constructively, influence decisions and handle complex, data‑led conversations.
