About your new role

The Casualty team provides a full and expert defendant litigation service, acting across both the public and private sectors on a wide range of public liability (PL) and employers’ liability (EL) claims. Our client is recognised as a market leader in this space, offering high‑quality representation across core and specialist Casualty areas, including support from our dedicated Casualty Fraud team.

\n\n

They operate on a national basis, with specialist commercial insurance and public sector teams, enabling them to deliver a consistent, well‑resourced service to our clients.

\n\n

We have been instructed to recruit a Solicitor or CILEX‑qualified Lawyer (2–4 years’ PQE) to join their Sports team in Leeds.

\n\n

Working within this dedicated team, you will be responsible, under appropriate supervision, for the day‑to‑day management of a varied caseload, handling claims efficiently and delivering pragmatic, commercial outcomes for clients.

\n\n

You will also assist Partners and Principal Associates in the defence of a wide range of claims, often high value and high profile, on behalf of sports’ governing bodies, competitors, sports clubs, and their insurers.

Tasks will include:

\n\t
• Assisting with significant disclosure and document reviews including e-Discovery
\n\t
• Preparing witness statements
\n\t
• Undertaking legal and factual research
\n\t
• Drafting instructions to Counsel and experts
\n\t
• Preparing reports to clients
\n\t
• Preparing for and attending court hearings
\n\t
• Attending client meetings and responding promptly and accurately to correspondence and telephone enquiries from clients and other parties.

About You

\n\n

You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. We also require you to have:

\n\n

\n\t
• A proven track record of managing EL/PL personal injury claims, with a demonstrable understanding of the law relating to negligence and health and safety
\n\t
• Experience of managing sports claims is desirable
\n\t
• A genuine interest in sport and sports related claims
\n\t
• In depth knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules
\n\t
• Experience in undertaking disclosure exercises and document reviews
\n\t
• Experience in drafting documents including witness statements, instructions and reports
\n\t
• Ability to analyse information
\n\t
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
\n\t
• Excellent interpersonal and team working skills
\n\t
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
