Large commercial law firm in London is seeking a Pensions lawyer of 6 or more years PQE. The team acts for many recognised organisations, including:

• Private or public companies

nn

• Pension scheme trustees

nn

• Financial institutions

nn

• Insolvency practitioners

nn

• Government bodies.

Clients expect superb advice and service. The successful candidate will get involved with regulatory and trustee work as well as both contentious and non-contentious work. The team works on the Pensions elements of the most significant cross-border M&A transactions and also works on behalf of an enviable client base. They cover a wide range of pension matters, including:

nn

• Day-to-day advice to trustees of pension schemes ranging in size from very small to over £1bn;

nn

• Preparation of benefit specifications, discretions tables and advising on benefit related issues, in preparation for pensions risk transfer or a strategic decision to run on;

nn

• Execution of risk transfer exercises, whether to consolidator or buy-in;

nn

• Advice on benefit discrepancies or interpretation issues within pension scheme rules;

nn

• Impact of legislative changes including changes resulting from case law (e.g. GMP equalisation);

nn

• Scheme documentation;

nn

• Scheme benefit change exercises and liability reduction exercises;

nn

• The impact of corporate re-organisations and negotiating appropriate mitigation;

nn

• Scheme mergers;

nn

• Scheme wind ups;

nn

• Investment issues, including investment management agreements.

nn

You will play a key role on a variety of pension matters across a range of clients. You will also be expected to build and maintain client relationships as well as contributing to the marketing and business development efforts of the department.
