Job Description:

Housing Solicitor

£80,000 | Hybrid working | East London

If you’re a housing solicitor who enjoys being in court, running your own cases, and working in a team that actually talks to each other, this is worth a look.

This is a role with a well-established housing provider going through a period of growth and change. They’re expanding their portfolio significantly over the next few years, which means more interesting work, more responsibility, and a chance to shape how legal services are delivered internally.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll manage a varied caseload across landlord and tenant matters, including:

  • Possession proceedings (rent arrears and anti-social behaviour)
  • Disrepair claims
  • Unlawful occupation and tenancy fraud
  • Failed succession cases
  • General tenancy breaches

You’ll also:

  • Represent clients in court (most hearings are local and manageable)
  • Advise internal stakeholders on day‑to‑day housing issues
  • Draft and review tenancy agreements and legal documents
  • Support a paralegal and contribute to the wider team

What stands out about this role

  • Genuine work‑life balance – caseloads are sensible (around 70–80 matters, often fewer)
  • Regular advocacy – you’ll actually be in court, not just behind a desk
  • Autonomy – you’re trusted to run your own files
  • Close‑knit team – collaborative, supportive, and not overly corporate
  • Flexibility – typically one day a week in the office or court

What they’re looking for

  • Around 2+ years’ PQE in housing law
  • Experience with landlord and tenant matters (rent arrears, disrepair, ASB, etc.)
  • Confidence managing your own caseload
  • Advocacy experience or a willingness to build it
  • A practical, calm approach with clients and colleagues

The package

  • Salary around £80,000
  • 30 days annual leave
  • Competitive pension
  • Health insurance
  • Free parking
  • Hybrid working
