Our Finance team has a large part to play in the success of our business. We are based across a few locations, but operate as one team, and work together to create a positive, productive and highly efficient finance department within News UK.
Your role
Join us as a Finance Leader for The Sun, where you will provide commercial leadership across one of the UK’s most iconic newsbrands. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will challenge and support the business to achieve stretching targets across audience, editorial, and marketing, playing a pivotal role in the brand's ongoing success.
Day to day you will
- Influence decision‑making confidently to achieve key business objectives.
- Lead the budget and forecast process, from agreeing on underlying assumptions to producing executive presentations.
- Ensure business cases are robustly challenged and financially sound while conducting thorough post‑investment reviews.
- Offer proactive insight and analysis to mitigate risks and exploit new commercial opportunities.
- Provide robust cost management to ensure marketing and editorial spend remains efficient and effective.
- Support the Finance Director and act as a deputy during their absence.
- Develop a high‑performing team with clear, actionable objectives.
- Manage the P&L fully, including risks and opportunities.
- Encourage the continuous improvement of financial processes and reporting.
What we’re looking for from you
- You are a Fully Qualified Accountant with a number of years PQE.
- You have a proven track record of leading and developing high‑performing finance teams.
- You can communicate complex financial information clearly to colleagues with varying levels of finance knowledge.
- You quickly establish effective working relationships across different departments to drive delivery.
- You demonstrate a proactive, "can‑do" attitude when solving problems and managing multiple stakeholders.
- You are resilient and delivery‑focused, with the ability to identify and flag risks or areas for process improvement.
- You possess strong Excel skills, and while not essential, experience with TM1 or the media/digital marketing sector is beneficial.
