Associate Director / Planning Director

A rare opportunity has arisen for an Associate Director or Planning Director to join a high-performing Birmingham planning team. This role offers a genuine leadership platform, combining project delivery, client management and team growth responsibilities.

The team works on a wide range of major residential, commercial and regeneration schemes across the Midlands and nationally.

The Role

This is a senior leadership position with significant influence across the business.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading major development projects from inception through to delivery
• Acting as a trusted advisor to key developer and landowner clients
• Driving business development and generating new work
• Managing and developing a team of planners
• Supporting recruitment and team growth strategy
• Overseeing project financial performance
• Representing clients at inquiries, hearings and examinations
• Supporting Directors in shaping long‑term business strategy

This position offers a clear route into senior leadership within the business.

About You

• MRTPI qualified (essential)
• Strong track record delivering major planning projects
• Experience operating at Associate or Director level
• Proven ability to win work and develop client relationships
• Strong leadership and team management experience
• Commercially astute with strong financial awareness
