An excellent career opportunity has arisen for a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Manchester office of this well respected firm of consulting engineers. Their name is synonymous with engineering excellence in the industry and they have won numerous awards for their work.
They pride themselves on their long‑serving staff and are a people‑focused practice.
Responsibilities
You would be working on a variety of exciting and interesting building projects, ranging from small specialist works up to £90m housing developments. The firm are also heavily involved in staging and temporary structures, having recently supported events such as the Brit Awards, the Oasis Concert, and the Chelsea Flower Show marquees. This is interesting work, which involves plenty of site visits and the opportunity to be involved in varied and specialist schemes.
Recent project examples include adding new escalators to a shopping centre, advising on a large demolition scheme, low‑rise apartment blocks, hospitals, conversion of a Grade 2 listed building, façade changes at a retail park and an extension to a commercial building.
In this role you are expected to contribute to all aspects of structural design, covering materials such as steel, concrete, timber, masonry and aluminium.
Qualifications
You should have several years of building‑design experience, ideally be Chartered or nearing that status, and have excellent communication skills. You should be able to attend site and design meetings, perform hands‑on design work, and write technical reports. Experience with Scia and MasterSeries is desirable.
The firm has over 100 staff. The Manchester office is small, with just under 15 staff. The structures team currently stands at 3 and is run by an excellent MI‑Structural qualified mentor. ICE support is also available. You will be involved with other offices as well, with shared CPD sessions, socials, and opportunities for growth.
