Position Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic colleagues to join our existing team of Acute Medicine Consultants at Good Hope Hospital. We currently have a team of 18 Consultants with areas of special interest including Respiratory, Diabetes, Renal and Intensive Care.

Department Overview

Our department includes a Medical Assessment Unit (MAU), inpatient beds on our Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Short Stay wards as well as a Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC).

Teaching Opportunities

Opportunities for teaching are available in our simulation suite and clinical skills area. Other areas of special interest are encouraged.

Job Plan

Standard job plan of 10 PA, the exact job plans will be agreed with the successful candidates.

Qualifications

The appointees must have necessary qualifications and should either be on the Specialist Register of the GMC or be within 6 months of CCT at the time of the interview.

Responsibilities

  • Ward rounds of our footprint of 90 inpatient beds.
  • Assessment of new and follow up patients presenting to same day emergency care (SDEC).
  • Full participation in the Acute Medical on call rota covering 0800-1600, 1400-2200 shifts.
  • Weekend ward rounds are included on a 1 in 6 basis.
