From April 2026, we will lead the delivery of regionally commissioned economic development activity aligned to the West Midlands Growth Plan, working in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority and local authorities.

We are building a sharper, business‑focused organisation that attracts investment, supports high‑growth companies and drives measurable economic impact.

As Temporary Procurement Manager, you’ll work alongside another Procurement Manager to deliver end‑to‑end procurement activity across WMGC. You’ll ensure all services, supplies and works are procured in line with internal governance and the Public Procurement Act 2023, providing expert advice and hands‑on delivery where it’s needed most.

This is a fast‑paced, practical role requiring strong judgement, attention to detail and confidence operating within statutory procurement frameworks.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver end‑to‑end procurement processes for purchases over £2,500.
  • Ensure full compliance with WMGC procurement governance and the Public Procurement Act 2023.
  • Advise internal teams on appropriate procurement routes and statutory timescales.
  • Support Heads of Function, Senior Leadership Team and partners on key procurement activity.
  • Publish procurement notices and contract award information.
  • Maintain the contracts register and ensure accurate document management.
  • Manage live tenders on the e‑tendering portal, proactively addressing risks or issues.
  • Support contract management activities, including performance, improvement actions and contract closure where required.

What You’ll Bring

Essential

  • At least 5 years’ experience in public procurement management.
  • Strong working knowledge of public sector procurement legislation and frameworks.
  • Hands‑on experience using e‑tendering systems.
  • Ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Strong organisational skills with a sharp eye for compliance and detail.

Desirable

  • Experience working across complex, multi‑project environments.
  • Confidence operating at pace with minimal supervision.
