Shape Project Officer

Sandwell Council is seeking a Project Officer to support the SHAPE Programme, a corporate child’s voice initiative, which has been successfully running for 12 years, addressing the needs of children and young people in Sandwell.

The role will support the SHAPE Programme Manager in co‑ordinating and leading the planning and organisation of events, consultation and other projects as required to deliver priorities and objectives supporting the Children and Young People’s Engagement Strategy.

Brief requirements

• Must be qualified to degree level or have equivalent experience in Youth Work and/or leading on projects
• Experience of working with children and young people through community engagement or a related environment to provide participation opportunities
• A good understanding of the main issues relating to and factors impacting on children and young people
• Experience of partnership and multi‑agency working, being able to communicate and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
• Experience of project and budget management is desirable

The successful applicant will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check.

The successful candidate will be expected to work occasional evenings and weekends.
