What will I be doing?

You’ll be part of the Flex platform team, helping to build systems that connect energy retailers, grid operators, and consumers. Day‑to‑day you’ll design and deliver scalable features, from integrating technologies like electric vehicles to enabling customer offerings such as “Charge Anytime”. You’ll work closely with data scientists and backend engineers on core optimisation problems, own features from concept through to ongoing improvement, write high‑quality, well‑tested code, and contribute to a strong engineering culture that decarbonises transport and home energy use at scale.

About You

  • A hands‑on engineer with expertise in at least one programming language. If your experience doesn’t match our stack exactly, that’s fine – we hire based on strong engineering fundamentals rather than specific languages.
  • Experience building or contributing to a variety of systems, ideally across different technologies.
  • Knowledge of modern engineering best practices, including test automation and continuous delivery.
  • A genuine passion for developing products that positively impact large numbers of people and the environment.
  • A collaborative mindset, with a love of working in teams to build features that deliver customer value.
  • Motivation to take ownership of products, from inception through to continuous improvement.
  • A strong belief in test automation, continuous delivery, and agile ways of working.
  • A proactive approach to learning, with a desire to deepen your expertise and broaden your skill set.
