We are looking for Software Development Engineers to join our offices in the Thames Valley. Our small, independent team inside AWS builds and operates services to bring stability, automation and performance to the most popular AWS services.

Key job responsibilities

• Technical ownership of designs and services, influencing good coding practices among peers.
• Designing, coding, reviewing, testing, fixing, researching, deploying and maintaining services and code in the Amazon cloud production environments.
• Prioritising work, collaborating with the team and across teams, building new tooling, features, services and applications.
• Building, maintaining and running the software we own, including dependencies, hardware platform, operating system and build.
• Participating in on‑call rotation and troubleshooting, researching root causes and thoroughly resolving defects.

A day in the life

Software engineers at Amazon take ownership of solution design, turn it into code and deliver it on schedule, using appropriate technologies and current software engineering best practices. They collaborate with teammates and across teams to improve and build new tooling, features, services and applications.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience in professional, non‑internship software development.
• Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
• Experience contributing to the architecture and design (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Full software development life cycle experience including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations.
• Experience leading engineering teams as a mentor or tech lead.
