Job Description:

Role – Lead Architect (CTO Office – Physical AI Specialist) – London

Location: London

Role Details & Job Descriptions

Role Summary: A senior Lead Architect who will function as the CTO for the Physical AI space and expert in NVIDIA. This is the ’Tech Anchor’, ensuring HCLTech can engage client CTOs/CISOs in deep technical discussions from the outset. The architect will design end-to-end solutions that combine NVIDIA technologies with HCL’s services and other partner tech (cloud, data, IoT), effectively bridging multiple domains. This leader will also guide the practice’s technology roadmap and mentor the team on advanced AI topics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Pre-Sales Leadership: Join critical sales meetings as the chief technologist, capable of ’technically closing’ deals by addressing detailed questions from customer CTO/CISO and enterprise architects. Instill confidence in HCL’s technical prowess in AI – from NVIDIA GPU infrastructure to software frameworks and integration patterns.
  • Solution Architecture & Design: Lead the architecture of AI solutions for client engagements. This includes understanding requirements, selecting the right technologies (e.g. NVIDIA platforms such as GPUs, Jetson, AI software SDKs) and integrating with cloud services (Azure, AWS, etc.) and enterprise systems. Focus on ’Physical AI’ solutions – e.g. AI for autonomous machines, computer vision, digital twins – while also covering broader AI/ML architectures. Produce reference architectures and technical proposals for complex multi-million dollar solutions.
  • Cross-Ecosystem Innovation: Work across technology domains and practices – collaborate with other HCLTech units (cloud, IoT, analytics) to develop cross cutting solutions that incorporate NVIDIA technology. For instance, create joint offerings (e.g. AI + 5G edge computing, AI in cybersecurity) to take to market. Stay updated on NVIDIA’s latest innovations (like world models, generative AI for robotics) and evaluate how to leverage them for clients.
  • Practice Development: Define the technical roadmap for the NVIDIA practice – identify capability gaps to fill (tools, labs, training), and guide investments in building IP or solution accelerators. Mentor and upskill team members on advanced AI topics; run internal workshops or tech talks. Represent HCLTech in technical forums or conferences (contributing to thought leadership).
  • Delivery Oversight: On strategic pilot projects or first‑of‑a‑kind implementations, provide oversight or governance to ensure solutions are built as designed. Troubleshoot and problem‑solve architectural challenges during execution.

Key Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: 15+ years in technology/architecture roles with deep expertise in AI/ML. A proven track record as a Chief Architect, Principal Engineer, or similar senior technical leader for complex solutions (ideally in areas like AI, analytics, or IoT). Experience working with global clients and leading architecture for large programs is required.
  • Technical Expertise: Hands‑on knowledge of NVIDIA AI technologies (GPUs, CUDA, TensorRT, NVIDIA AI frameworks) as well as broader AI ecosystem tools (PyTorch, TensorFlow, ML Ops platforms). Familiarity with robotics, computer vision, or edge AI (the core of ’Physical AI’) is highly desirable. Also proficient in cloud architectures (AWS/Azure GCP AI services, edge devices) and data engineering. Able to quickly learn and work across new emerging tech.
  • Credibility & Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage at C‑level discussing technology strategy and architecture. Demonstrated credibility in front of technical clients; possibly has industry recognition (publications, patents or speaking engagements in AI). Comfortable explaining complex AI concepts in business terms when needed.
  • Leadership: Experience leading cross‑functional technical teams or communities. Passion for mentoring and developing talent. Ability to drive consensus in a matrix environment and influence senior stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Education: Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field (MS/PhD preferred), with specialization in AI or related areas. Continuous learning mindset to stay at the cutting edge of tech.
  • Location & Travel: Role based in London; willingness to travel within EMEA as needed for critical client meetings. (This is a senior Level 6 role, reflecting its criticality and impact. Given the niche skillset, hiring will be selective – potentially considering both internal candidates with relevant expertise or external hires from industry.)
