Overview

A family owned business in Ulverston, operating for over 25 years with a regional turnover of £16m, is seeking a Finance Lead to strengthen its finance team and support strategic decision‑making.

Role & Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Director, the Finance Lead will be the primary point of contact for finance matters and will collaborate with an external accountant as required. Key duties include:

• Leading a small team of transactional finance staff, providing training and development
• Owning all financial reporting, management accounts production, commentary and analysis
• Preparing budgets and forecasts
• Reviewing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) activities
• Overseeing payroll processing
• Working closely with senior management to ensure effective business decisions

Experience & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a similar senior finance role with strong leadership and staff‑management capabilities. Technical proficiency in finance and a demonstrated commercial acumen are essential for supporting effective business decision making.
