Apply for the Financial Controller
Location: London
Job Description:

ClearToken is a financial market infrastructure group for digital assets.

Our market infrastructure is based on established financial market principles. Our goal is to bring the proven risk management and capital efficiency benefits of central counterparty clearing and book entry settlement systems to the fast-evolving digital asset market.

By integrating established clearing and settlement frameworks with new technologies, our post-trade ecosystem is designed to serve regulated market participants, delivering the same reliability, transparency and confidence found in traditional financial markets.

Summary

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Head of Financial Reporting will own ClearToken’s controllership and financial reporting function across the group. You will be responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, robust controls, and regulatory compliance as the business scales toward full operational launch.

This is a senior, hands-on role for a technically strong finance professional who takes pride in getting the detail right, thrives with ownership, and wants to build something that matters. You will be the definitive voice on financial reporting standards across the group and a key partner to the CFO on matters of control, compliance and external stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements across the group per IFRS standards
  • Lead the month-end close process, including reconciliations, accruals and intercompany charges
  • Drive internal reporting, including budget vs actuals, ensuring quality and consistency across entities
  • Build, maintain and continuously improve internal controls and financial policies appropriate for a regulated FMI
  • Lead annual financial audits across the group and multiple regulated entities, managing external auditor relationships directly
  • Own all UK tax data, schedules and filings, coordinating with external tax advisors as required
  • Prepare and present materials for external auditors, regulators, investors, board and the Audit and Risk Committee

Regulatory Reporting & Compliance

  • Own recurring regulatory financial and capital filings in line with FCA and Bank of England requirements
  • Lead regulatory capital reporting and ensure ongoing compliance across regulated entities
  • Act as the primary finance contact for regulatory engagement on reporting matters
  • Provide financial reporting support to the Audit and Risk Committee as required

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Own day-to-day cash flow monitoring and bank reconciliations
  • Lead treasury reporting, including liquidity and working capital tracking

Budgeting & Planning

  • Partner with the CFO on the annual budgeting process and rolling financial forecasts
  • Prepare financial models and variance analysis to support business planning and strategic decision-making

Operational Finance & Systems

  • Own and develop the finance systems infrastructure, including ERP implementation and ongoing optimisation
  • Identify and drive improvements to finance processes as the company scales
  • Provide oversight across accounts payable, expense processing, payroll coordination and vendor payments
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance and Operations on cross-functional finance matters

About You

  • ACA qualified, ideally Big 4 trained, with extensive post-qualification experience
  • Deep technical knowledge of IFRS, with experience producing and owning statutory accounts across complex group structures
  • Background in financial services – capital markets, clearing, FMI, fintech or a regulated financial institution, either from an audit or in-house perspective
  • Proven experience managing external audit relationships and presenting to senior stakeholders including Audit Committees or Board
  • Exposure to multi-entity group structures and regulated entity reporting
  • Comfortable operating with high levels of autonomy in a lean, fast-moving environment
  • Experience at a clearing house, exchange, custodian or securities depository
  • Direct experience with FCA-regulated entities and regulatory capital reporting
  • Comfort implementing and owning a multi-entity ERP (NetSuite, Rillet or similar)
  • Experience supporting a company through a regulatory authorisation process
  • IFRS technical depth including exposure to new standards implementation

For You

  • A competitive salary that reflects your skills and grows with your impact
  • Share options, giving you a genuine stake in ClearToken’s success
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Flexible, hybrid working – balance home life with time in our Central London office
  • Company pension scheme
  • Subsidised private medical cover

We are an equal opportunities employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. We encourage applications from all backgrounds.
