Client‑Facing Financial Controller
Full‑time, fully remote role based in the UK. Salary £4,000–£5,000 GBP/month, paid on a gross basis.
OnForm Finance is a consultancy providing outsourced finance services to founder‑led e‑commerce companies. We deliver bookkeeping, management accounting, financial control and fractional CFO support, allowing founders to focus on growth.
Responsibilities
- Run end‑to‑end finance for a portfolio of e‑commerce clients: month‑end close, management accounts, cash flow, reporting and ad‑hoc analysis.
- Deliver month‑end close within 10 working days for every client, including full balance‑sheet reconciliations signed off.
- Review day‑to‑day finance operations across your portfolio and raise the bar on accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee supplier payment runs and ensure cash is disbursed cleanly, on time and properly approved.
- Maintain granular weekly cash‑flow forecasts so founders know exactly where they stand.
- Own multi‑channel revenue reconciliation using A2X or Link My Books (Shopify primary, Amazon and other marketplaces where relevant).
- Reconcile payment‑processor payouts (Stripe, Klarna, PayPal, Shopify Payments) including fees, FX, refunds and chargebacks.
- Handle inventory and COGS accounting: landed cost, stock adjustments, margin analysis, 3PL reconciliations.
- Lead weekly and monthly client calls: walk founders through their numbers, answer questions on the fly, flag risks and opportunities.
- Manage and mentor Finance Managers working on your clients, reviewing their work and raising the bar.
- Build and refine reporting packs, KPI dashboards and cash‑flow models that clients actually use.
- Continuously improve the playbook: better processes, smarter tooling, AI‑assisted workflows.
Typical Week
Multiple client touchpoints, reviewing finance operations, overseeing supplier payment runs, updating granular weekly cash‑flows, producing 3–5 reporting packs, and working to smooth operations for the next month.
Qualifications
- Strong technical accounting skills – clean close, balance‑sheet reconciliations and source reconciliation.
- Proven track record of closing books within tight timelines (ideally 10 working days or better) across multiple entities.
- ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent qualification.
- 3+ years owning end‑to‑end finance for multiple clients or business units simultaneously, thriving on context‑switching.
- Hands‑on e‑commerce accounting experience: Shopify (and ideally Amazon), A2X or Link My Books, multi‑channel revenue recognition, COGS.
- Proven ability to reconcile payment processors (Stripe, Klarna, PayPal, Shopify Payments) including fees, FX and chargebacks.
- Advanced Xero knowledge: clean setup of tracking categories, bank rules, reporting layouts and consolidations.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets – able to build models, not just read them.
- Confident client‑call presence – can walk a non‑finance founder through their numbers and earn trust.
Nice to Have
- Experience at a multi‑client accounting firm or fractional CFO practice.
- Inventory‑heavy e‑commerce experience: 3PL reconciliations, landed cost, stock counts, multi‑warehouse.
- Familiarity with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) to speed up day‑to‑day work.
- Past experience mentoring or managing junior finance team members.
