Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical, Counselling, Forensic or Health)

Join the Grantham CMHT, a vibrant and collaborative team within Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This role allows you to lead psychologically minded assessment and interventions, support multi‑disciplinary collaboration, and work with adults in community mental health services.
Job responsibilities
- Carry a caseload of clients within the Grantham CMHT.
- Meet standards of practice for quality and timeliness of service, including HCPC, BPS, and Trust guidelines.
- Formulate and implement evidence‑based treatment plans for clients’ mental health and presenting problems.
- Provide and adapt a range of psychological interventions for clients, carers, families, and groups.
- Lead psychological components of multidisciplinary work and support other professionals.
- Offer consultation and advice to significant others and other agencies.
- Maintain adequate clinical records in line with service guidance and trust policies.
- Undertake risk assessment and management, providing guidance on psychological aspects of risk.
- Communicate sensitively about assessment, formulation, and treatment plans, and monitor progress.
Qualifications
- Post‑graduate (doctoral or master’s) level training in Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic psychology that confers HCPC eligibility.
- Formal training or equivalent experience in supervising other psychologists.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Post‑doctoral training in a specialised area of evidence‑based psychological therapy.
- Completed STAR supervisor training.
Experience
- Psychological assessment, formulation, treatment and evaluation of adults in secondary care mental health services.
- Specialist assessment and treatment across diverse settings (outpatient, community, primary care, inpatient).
- Experience with a broad range of client groups and presenting problems, from common to severe mental health conditions such as psychosis.
- Professionalism under high emotional and potentially abusive situations.
- Full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care within multi‑professional care plans.
- Teaching, training and supervision of professionals providing psychological interventions.
- Experience working in a community mental health team or other multi‑professional settings.
- Experience working indirectly or from a consultation model.
Skills
- Teaching and training using diverse multimedia materials for public, professional and academic contexts.
- Application of clinical governance mechanisms to maintain high‑quality practice.
- Knowledge of HCPC professional guidelines.
- Excellent oral and written communication with patients, families, carers, and professionals.
- Deep understanding of severe and enduring mental health problems.
- Advanced knowledge of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
- IT proficiency (email, word processing, basic databases).
- Strong organisational skills to manage a complex workload and meet deadlines.
- Motivation to deliver high‑quality service and improve client experience collaboratively.
- Willingness to travel between sites without using public transport.
- Experience in multicultural frameworks and psychological consultation to varied groups.
- Doctoral‑level knowledge of research methodology and data analysis.

Salary: £57,528 to £64,750 per annum (pro rata).
