Crane Engineer
Location: Bradford (Hybrid)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm
Salary: £35,500 basic
OTE: £45,000+ (8 hours overtime weekly)
I am currently working with a well‑established engineering business that is looking to appoint a Special Projects & Defence Engineer to join their growing team. This is a newly created role due to continued expansion, offering a mix of workshop-based work and field service activity across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with a background in hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems. You will be working on Lorry Loader Cranes and other specialist equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of lorry loader cranes and other hydraulic loading equipment in compliance with LOLER
- Perform fault diagnostics and resolve both mechanical and electrical issues in the workshop and on site
- Carry out repair work on‑site where possible, ensuring minimal downtime for customers.
- Provide technical support to customers and ensure all equipment is fit for purpose and operating safely.
- Work on refurbishment and upgrade projects primarily workshop based.
Requirements
- Strong experience working with hydraulic systems, including fault finding and repairs
- Solid mechanical and electrical engineering background
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
- Strong problem‑solving ability and able to work in challenging environments
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Experience working with lorry loader cranes or similar equipment
- Knowledge of LOLER inspections
- Relevant security clearance or ability to obtain it
