Reporting to Project Engineering Manager and/or Electrical Engineering Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Assuming overall responsibility for delivery of the electrical scope. Including but not limited to Schedule and MDR creation, change control, project reporting, leading meetings, delegating work packages to the electrical team.
- Supporting project estimates including CTR’s.
- Electrical discipline technical input for projects; preparation, checking and approval of engineering documentation. Including but not limited to Basis of Design, Power System Calculations, Earthing and Lightning Calculations, Equipment sizing calculations, Load Schedules, Equipment Specification and Datasheets, SLDs, Cable Schedules, Material Take Offs, BCDs, Schematics, Equipment and Cable Routing Layouts.
- Preparing equipment and materials requisitions for HV and LV switchboards, transformers, motors, UPS systems, power factor correction, trace-heating, lighting and other electrical equipment.
- Reviewing supplier’s quotations and preparing technical bid assessments.
- Preparing installation scopes of work.
- Ensuring all applicable national and international codes of practice, legislation and company/client standards and procedures are complied with.
- More specific tasks could include:
- HV Power System Modelling
- HV Protection Studies
- Liaising with the DNO and other stakeholders
- Electrical equipment ageing and Obsolescence Management
- Supporting site teams with operational issues
Qualifications
Degree in relevant engineering discipline (Electrical / Control Engineering) Chartered or Incorporated engineer status with a relevant professional body or evidence of working towards gaining these professional titles.
Technical Experience
- Good knowledge of design working practices and installation requirements of the Nuclear sector.
- 15 years engineering experience in the relevant or similar sectors.
- In depth knowledge of UK legislation and standards.
- Knowledge in the requirements for installation of equipment in potentially explosive areas.
- Experience in the requirements for CE marking of plant and equipment, including ATEX, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive and EMC Compliance.
- Awareness of risk identification, quantification, management and of HSE requirements.
- Good communication skills and confident engaging with colleagues and relevant stakeholders.
- Experience of managing an electrical team to deliver projects to schedule and budget.
- Works with safety and risk management at the forefront of their minds and client focused.
