What you will do

As a Lead Design Engineer, you will take technical ownership of Fire Suppression design activities across large, complex and multi-discipline projects. You will act as a subject‑matter expert, providing technical leadership, governance, and mentoring within the design team while supporting the business with high‑risk or specialist projects.

How you will do it

  • Lead and approve Fire Suppression designs to LPCB, NFPA, FM Global, and customer standards
  • Ensure design programmes are achieved to meet approval, fabrication, and construction milestones
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to Design Engineers and Senior Design Engineers
  • Review and approve design risk assessments and technical submissions
  • Liaise with Sales, Contract Managers, and site teams to resolve complex technical challenges
  • Support project handovers from sales through design to completion, ensuring all deliverables are met
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, standards, and best practice

What we are looking for

Required

  • LPCB Basic qualification
  • Strong Fire Suppression design expertise using LPCB rules, BS EN 12845, NFPA, and FM Global standards
  • Advanced AutoCAD experience
  • Proven experience delivering complex or high‑value projects
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and make sound engineering decisions
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • High level of IT proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Experience producing design specifications, presentational packages, and contractual documentation

Preferred

  • BIM experience
  • Previous experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
