Maintenance Mechanical Engineer – Leeds – LS1 – X1

Maintenance Mechanical Engineer is required for a static site role in Leeds (LS1), working within a healthcare environment. This is a long-term position with opportunities for permanent employment.

Shift Pattern

4 days (6:00am – 6:00pm), 4 days off, 4 nights (6:00pm – 6:00am), 4 days off – rolling shift pattern providing 24/7/365 cover.

Pay Rate

£20.36 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay).

Duties

  • Leading the shift team and providing support to working colleagues.
  • Carrying out maintenance, repairs, testing and inspection of building, mechanical and electrical services, associated systems, plant and equipment in line with relevant standards and procedures.
  • Participating in the rotating shift pattern to provide continuous service cover.
  • Providing cover for absent colleagues where required.
  • Working in accordance with safe working practices within statutory, NHS, Trust and Company guidelines.
  • Maintaining, servicing and repairing a wide range of building services including:
    • Heating and domestic water services.
    • General electrical services (lighting and power).
    • Air handling units.
    • Low voltage electrical distribution systems and switchgear.
    • Emergency standby generating plant.
    • Fire alarm systems and emergency lighting.
    • Electrical control systems.
    • Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Maintaining accurate records and completing service reports, providing regular updates to the line manager.
  • Carrying out minor installation and upgrade works when required.
  • Assisting other skilled trades with maintenance, repairs, testing, inspection and installation work.
  • Undertaking training to maintain and develop skills in line with service requirements.
  • Acting as Competent or Authorised Person when appointed.
  • Liaising and undertaking duties at other healthcare projects if directed.
  • Undertaking overtime where required to maintain service delivery.
  • Carrying out any other duties commensurate with grade.

Qualifications / Experience Required

  • Qualified, time‑served engineer.
  • Minimum 3 years’ post‑apprenticeship experience.
  • Healthcare experience desirable but not essential.
  • Cross‑trade experience advantageous.
