What you’ll be doing as a Project Quantity Surveyor
- Providing Commercial Assurance of Major Projects and Programmes Contracts.
- Challenge, negotiate and agree Project Tenders on the assigned Portfolio.
- Ensure that payments are made on time and in accordance with the Contract for your given portfolio of Projects.
- Assess the Quantum of Change and/or Extension of Time under the relevant Contracts on the assigned portfolio.
- Ensure that appropriate processes are in place and monitored on your Projects to maintain Contractual Compliance and advise stakeholders if any non‑performance is identified, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Support the management and optimisation of budgets and spend on the portfolio of Projects.
- Attend monthly site meetings on‑site.
- Collect relevant contracts data on the assigned portfolio.
- Audit and agree on Project Accounts.
- Support the Senior, Principal or Managing Quantity Surveyor with the resolution of Claims as necessary.
Base Location: Reading – Hybrid
Working Pattern: 36 hours
What you should bring to the role
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:
- Extensive experience in commercially managing a portfolio of projects, both pre and post‑contract.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
- Desire to work towards gaining Chartered Status.
- Confidence in negotiation and some dispute resolution skills.
- Understanding of water regulation (incl. OFWAT Price Review methodology).
- Excellent at building and maintaining relationships.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to mentor junior team members.
- Full UK Driving licence and own transport.
