£42,000 – £56,000 per annum | September or ASAP Start
Are you a qualified Food Technology Teacher looking for a more hands-on, therapeutic environment?
Do you have experience supporting pupils with autism, SEMH or additional needs?
Ready to deliver practical lessons that build real-life skills and re-engage students with learning?
A specialist education provider is seeking a dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join their East London provision. This full-time, permanent role involves working with pupils across KS2–KS4 who require a personalised, supportive approach to education.
The setting follows a therapeutic model, with a strong focus on relationships, emotional wellbeing and consistency. Pupils often have EHCPs and present with autism, SEMH and other neurodiverse needs.
In this role, you will lead on Food Technology, delivering engaging, practical lessons while supporting pupils to develop key life skills such as nutrition, food preparation and independence. You will also support learners working towards accreditations, including GCSE-level study.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering high-quality Food Technology lessons across KS2–KS4
Planning and differentiating for a range of SEN needs
Developing schemes of work and practical curriculum projects
Supporting EHCP targets and pupil re-engagement
Creating a safe, structured environment in line with health & safety
Promoting nutrition, food skills and real-life application
Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour as communication
Working collaboratively with support staff
Tracking and reporting on pupil progress
You will play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, independence and essential life skills through a practical, engaging curriculum.
This is a rewarding opportunity within a supportive, values-led setting that prioritises staff wellbeing and development.
We are looking for teachers who:
Hold QTS or QTLS (Food Technology specialism)
Have SEN experience, particularly autism and/or SEMH
Understand barriers to mainstream education
Are calm, resilient and relationship-focused
Have high expectations and a pupil-centred approach
Can confidently differentiate practical lessons
Are organised, proactive and flexible
Experience in alternative provision is desirable, though strong mainstream teachers with relevant SEN experience are encouraged to apply.
This is an excellent opportunity to move into a meaningful role within therapeutic education and make a real impact. xwzovoh
