Responsibilities
- Provide a high quality, customer‑focused front‑of‑house service for cremations, strewing cremated remains and burials, operating the cremation plant and equipment in accordance with relevant codes of practice and statutory requirements.
- Maintain an excellent standard on every occasion, as the service offers no second chance.
- Assist and step into all roles as required, with a full understanding of all facets of the service.
- Communicate effectively with bereaved individuals, using tact, diplomacy and empathy whilst negotiating with a variety of stakeholders.
Work Patterns and Physical Demands
- Shift patterns include weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis; no immediate access to a manager or supervisory post.
- Front‑line post; attendance in person is necessary to perform duties.
- Job involves physical effort, including lifting, working in awkward positions, in a hot environment and outdoors, with exposure to weather elements.
Qualifications and Competencies
- First aid qualification required.
- Intermediate Cremator Operators Certificate required. If not possessed, a trainee position may be considered, but the qualification must be obtained within the 6‑month probationary period for employment to continue.
- Excellent communication skills, high levels of tact, diplomacy and empathy, especially in dealing with bereaved clients.

- Perform other duties as reasonably required to meet qualification, experience, salary band and job expectations.
- Ensure own health and safety and that of any colleagues who are line‑managed.
