A global bank is seeking an experienced, highly organised and commercially astute Deputy Head of Finance to join its London Branch on a permanent basis due to an internal move.
This is a key leadership position within the Finance function, supporting the Head of Finance in overseeing all branch‑level accounting, regulatory reporting, financial controls and strategic finance activity.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of financial and regulatory reporting, maintaining a robust control framework, and supporting both group‑wide and local initiatives across Finance, IT and the wider business. The successful candidate will act as a senior point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and will deputise for the Head of Finance when required.
The role will be offered on a hybrid basis with 3 days office attendance required per week.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Regulatory Reporting
- Coordinate the preparation of internal and external financial reporting for the London Branch, including accounting, financial control and analysis activities
- Oversee liquidity, UK/FR/EU regulatory reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to relevant frameworks
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure all reporting is audit‑ready
Tax & Compliance
- Monitor VAT calculations and payments
- Support preparation of Corporation Tax and Banking Surcharge submissions
- Assist with ad‑hoc tax‑related queries including Bank Levy and CATA calculations
Projects & Process Improvement
- Contribute to process enhancement initiatives through drafting functional specifications
- Support testing, validation and implementation of system upgrades and Finance‑IT change projects
- Participate in transversal and Head Office projects impacting Finance
Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key Finance contact for the General Manager, Heads of Departments and Senior Risk stakeholders
- Liaise with Finance, Accounting and IT teams across London and Paris
- Build strong relationships with external auditors, advisors and consultants
Leadership & Oversight
- Support the Head of Finance in managing the Finance department
- Provide cover in their absence, ensuring continuity across all Finance activities
- Deliver consistent, high‑quality support to internal customers while upholding group policies and standards
Skills & Experience Required
- Experience within banking or financial services
- Strong experience in accounting, financial control and financial reporting
- Ability to work effectively with multiple departments (Front Office, Back Office, Middle Office)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Ability to respond quickly to issues and manage complex, time‑sensitive work
- Experience supporting system implementations or development projects
- Strong technically. Advanced level excel and Power BI experience highly desirable.
- Exposure to cross‑border banking environments or group‑level reporting structures
- Good understanding of capital markets (money markets, FX, bonds, repos, derivatives)
