Overview

Consultant General Paediatrician – Channel Islands (Consultant-Led Service)

Contract: Full-time, substantive

The Opportunity

We’re working with a unique, consultant-led paediatric service in the Channel Islands to appoint a Consultant General Paediatrician.

This is a rare opportunity to join a small, high-performing team delivering comprehensive care across general paediatrics and neonatology, with full clinical ownership and no junior doctor tier.

You’ll be part of a close-knit consultant team providing care to a defined population, with strong links to UK tertiary centres.

The Role

  • Manage a broad caseload across general paediatrics and neonates
  • Provide inpatient, outpatient and HDU-level care
  • Participate in the on-call rota as duty Paediatrician
  • Take full responsibility for clinical decision-making and patient outcomes
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement and leadership

What We’re Looking For

  • GMC Specialist Register (Paediatrics) or within 6 months of CCT
  • Strong experience across acute paediatrics and neonatology
  • Confident managing paediatric emergencies and stabilising neonates
  • Experience in safeguarding and community paediatrics
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a consultant-led model

Why This Role? (Lifestyle & Work-Life Balance)

  • Genuinely better work-life balance vs mainland NHS roles
  • Short commutes, be home in minutes, not hours
  • Beautiful coastal setting with beaches, outdoor swimming, sailing and walking on your doorstep
  • Safe, community-focused environment, ideal for families
  • Strong sense of clinical ownership without the bureaucracy often found in larger systems
  • Opportunity to reset pace of life while still practising high-quality medicine
  • Easy access to the UK when needed
