Overview

An opportunity for an experienced Property Underwriter to join a high-performing and internationally focused underwriting team. This role is suited to a technically strong individual with a track record of leading large and complex property placements, particularly across North American and international markets. The position offers exposure to a substantial and diverse portfolio, combining both open market and delegated authority business, within a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite a significant Property portfolio, including both new business and renewals across international markets, with a focus on North America
  • Lead and manage large, complex property placements, ensuring appropriate pricing and risk selection
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients through regular engagement and meetings
  • Apply technical underwriting expertise, including policy wording knowledge and risk assessment tools such as catastrophe modelling
  • Ensure all underwriting decisions are aligned with internal guidelines and delegated authority levels
  • Contribute to underwriting strategy discussions and provide input at regular portfolio and performance meetings
  • Monitor market trends and individual account performance to inform underwriting decisions and strategy
  • Maintain a strong reputation in the market through consistent delivery of high-quality underwriting and service

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in Property underwriting or broking, with exposure to large and complex risks
  • Strong technical knowledge of property insurance, including policy wordings and pricing methodologies
  • Experience working with North American and international property business
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and pressured environment
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Proficiency in relevant systems and tools, including advanced Excel skills

Desirable but Not Essential

  • Experience using catastrophe modelling tools (e.g. RMS or similar platforms)
  • Exposure to delegated authority business
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development
