Consultant Paediatric Neurologist

Location: St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, SW Thames region
St Georges NHS Foundation Trust leads inpatient and outpatient paediatric neurology services in the SW Thames region. The Service aims to provide 24/7 tertiary paediatric neurology services for the region and to support other tertiary services provided by St George's Hospital.
This is a fixed‑term part‑time (8 PA) 1‑year locum position. The post-holder will contribute to the on‑call service with a ratio of 1:8.
Tertiary referrals are accepted only on a Consultant‑to‑Consultant basis and the service does not provide referrals directly from primary care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCPCH or equivalent
- Relevant higher degree: MD or PhD
Training
- Completed or within 6 months of obtaining accredited sub‑speciality training in Paediatric Neurology
- Child Safeguarding Level 3
- Valid Paediatric BLS certificate
- APLS / EPLS / NLS
Clinical Experience
- Previous working experience in paediatric neurology at tertiary level
- Wide experience in general paediatrics at secondary or tertiary level
- Previous Paediatric Neurology position at Consultant level in the UK or equivalent
Audit / Research
- Competence in and track record of performing clinical audit, service improvement projects and guideline development and review
- Able to initiate and carry out medical research projects
- Authorship of research papers
Management
- Knowledge and experience of clinical governance
- Training in management and audit at speciality registrar or equivalent level
- Ability to initiate service change
- Experience of management
Other Qualities
- Ability to work as a team with professional colleagues from medical and other disciplines
- Flexible approach
Other Requirements
- GMC Registration
- On the GMC's Specialist Register OR within six months of CCT at time of scheduled interview
- MDU / MPS
Teaching
- Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors
- Specific training / qualification in education and/or appraisal
