Are you an experienced London Market underwriter looking to own a global portfolio, shape strategy and write genuinely meaningful business?

SCOR Business Solutions (SBS) is looking for a high-calibre Senior Underwriter to drive growth across a diverse, international portfolio spanning the UK Retail market, London Wholesale, Netherlands, Canada and the Nordics. Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of a portfolio of complex global accounts, leveraging strong broker relationships in the London Market while actively developing new business opportunities.
  • Grow and diversify the book to deliver profitable, technically sound underwriting aligned to the wider business strategy.
  • Contribute to breadth of coverage from High Excess and primary lead business to international programme structures.
  • Own renewals, endorsements, client/risk visits and claims engagement; evaluate submissions, price and structure deals, and negotiate terms from first look through to bind.
  • Build market share and strengthen leadership through proactive trading and smart portfolio management.
  • Champion client outcomes with efficient, innovative solutions that enhance SCOR’s reputation.
  • Negotiate bespoke policy wordings and service line solutions, balancing commercial needs with technical integrity.
  • Represent the business at key market and client events, including international conferences.
  • Partner with the Global Line Head to expand UK/London and international programme business (including wholesale markets across Europe, Canada and the Nordics).
  • Originate new opportunities through broker/client engagement and proactive marketing aligned to the business roadmap.
  • Maintain trusted relationships with brokers, clients and reinsurers; travel as needed to support key accounts.
  • Monitor pipeline and watchlist, identify issues early and shape solutions for complex cases.
  • Contribute market intelligence and support team development; maintain strong underwriting governance, accurate records, premium monitoring, reporting and compliance with licensing and committee requirements.
  • Attend SCOR box and oversee submission of special acceptances to SCOR Underwriting Committee and reinsurers for deals outside Underwriting Guidelines and pre-agreed reinsurance treaty terms.

About You

You are an established Casualty Underwriter with a strong London Market presence and international experience. You bring commercial acumen, technical underwriting expertise, and the credibility to lead business discussions at a senior level.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Several years of direct underwriting experience, ideally within the London Market.
  • Proven experience underwriting international casualty business, including international and programme business.
  • Strong track record in negotiating policy wordings and managing complex risks.
  • Established relationships with brokers, clients and market participants.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead business, manage a portfolio, and contribute to profitable growth.
  • Strong commercial awareness and confidence negotiating face-to-face with brokers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Desirable

  • Experience presenting to reinsurers and underwriting committees.
  • Experience with direct (non-brokered) international business.
  • Professional insurance qualifications (e.g. ACII) or equivalent experience.
