Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • NMC level one registration
  • OH Nurse – Specialist Practitioner Qualification/Degree in Occupational Health/relevant experience in the field
  • Evidence of continuous personal & professional development
  • Complex case management in Occupational Health
  • Up to date knowledge of DOH/HSE legislation and recommendations

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

Essential criteria

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, IT)
  • Able to prioritise workload, achieving a balance between clinical work and other aspects of the post
  • Able to work autonomously and as a member of the team
  • Adept at critical thinking and decision making
  • Able to carry out a wide range of practical skills and interpret results including, health surveillance, venepuncture, immunisations, spirometry, audiometry
  • Management of sharps injury and providing infection control advice in line with Trust policy and procedures
  • Ability to supervise junior nursing staff and admin staff

Desirable criteria

  • Able to produce Occupational Health policies and procedures
  • Experience in audit and research projects
  • Good presentation skills

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria

  • Venepuncture Immunisations CPR/anaphylaxis treatment Spirometry Audiometry

  • Experience of working in Occupational Health in the NHS and industrial setting
  • Experience in the recruitment and selection process
