The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the North West Community Mental Health Acute Care Service (CMHACS) as a CMHACs Practitioner. You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Permanent full-time post working 36 hours per week
- Working hours Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm or 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm on a rota basis.
- Required to work Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm as part of a planned rota system.
- Role covers the North West Glasgow area, main base Arndale Resource Centre.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary CMHAC team and partner agencies to deliver safe, effective, person-centred care.
- Support individuals presenting in crisis with complex mental health, physical, and social care needs, providing intensive home treatment and care interventions as an alternative to hospital admission.
- Play an active role in supporting early discharge from inpatient services, contributing to discharge planning and ensuring timely and effective follow-up following acute inpatient care.
- When required, assess individuals on leave from inpatient services to ensure continuity and safety of care.
- Supervise, support, and demonstrate clinical procedures to students and unqualified staff; act as a mentor to learners undertaking professional training.
- Practice within relevant legal and ethical frameworks, adhering to professional codes of conduct, mental health legislation, and contractual responsibilities.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required
- First-level registered nurse in mental health (valid NMC registration) or occupational therapist registered with HCPC or social worker registered with Scottish Social Services Council.
- Relevant post-registration experience, ideally in the mental health sector, preferably in a community setting.
- Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
- Effective communication skills to engage confidently with service users, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Ability to work independently using professional judgement and initiative.
- IT literacy with basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Full UK driving licence.
