Operational Technology (OT) Engineer
Location
Hartlepool – 5 days on siteBPSS clearance required2–5 years of experience
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for OT systems and cyber security management across the full lifecycle (development to in-service operation)
- Support configuration control and system management, including tools, data, and repositories
- Ensure OT security, regulatory compliance, and industrial safety are embedded in all activities
- Act as a point of contact for site OT security matters, supporting:
- Plant Computer Systems Security (PCSS) practitioners
- Cyber security (Blue Team) activities
- Maintain and support key OT documentation and systems, including plant network diagrams, OT asset registers, security case documentation, security operating procedures, and cyber incident response processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing feedback and supporting team development
Required Skills
- Understanding of the lifecycle of OT/I&C systems, particularly configuration control, security considerations, and in-service management
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
Required Qualifications
- A degree in Software Engineering, CyberSecurity or a closely related technical discipline, or equivalent military experience
- Eligible for (or holding) UK security clearance
Desirable Skills
- Up to 2 years’ experience (or relevant placements) in Operational Technology (OT) systems
- Industrial control / I&C systems
- Configuration management or cyber security
- System reliability and fault tolerance
- Proof testing and maintenance practices
- Through-life asset management and obsolescence
- IEC 62443
- NIST Cyber Security Framework
- IEC 61508
- Interest in OT cyber security, industrial networks, and infrastructure systems
