Technical Manager (Ground Quality Endorsement)

Responsibilities

• Capable in managing people, projects, and directing a team.
• Sustain and improve client relationships.
• Review the work of other professional staff.
• Manage the GQE Team within a region, ensuring appropriate technical coverage on all projects, including control of validation cost and time budgets.
• Obtain all necessary regulatory approvals.
• Provide technical interpretation of information regarding a wide range of geotechnical and/or geoenvironmental aspects.
• Prepare specific studies, reports, designs and specifications as required. Independently perform assignments, with supervision and guidance relating largely to overall objectives, critical issues and new concepts.
• Manage the regional GQE team and promote/develop the team within the Group.
• Help and support Engineers, ensuring they fully understand their role, requirements and project expectations.
• Manage client portfolio, including ground improvement works.
• Oversee geotechnical and geoenvironmental technical aspects of contracts.
• Liaise with and provide technical advice and assistance when required.
• Communicate with SRL Contracts Manager/Site Manager throughout programmed works.
• Provide regular updates to Technical Director/Directors on works in progress.
• Client liaison, ranging from presentation of outline proposals through to providing regular client updates throughout remediation works.
• Liaise and negotiate with regulators.
• Assist in preparation of quotes/tenders for potential remediation projects.
• Project manage remediation support activities including design, reporting and validation of remediation works.
• Review factual and interpretive reports with a view to designing suitable and cost-effective remediation schemes.
• Oversee specific validation cost and time budgets.

Experience & Qualifications

• Preferable degree qualified in Civil Engineering or Geology.
• Ideally of Chartered status.
• Proven direct experience of working on large earthworks projects / ground engineering.
• Direct experience in the design and construction of retaining walls.
