FutureGen Recruitment is representing a highly regarded planning consultancy seeking an MRTPI Associate Planner to take a leadership role within its Bedford team.

This is a pivotal role within a business that is deeply embedded in the Oxford–Cambridge growth story. The team advises on strategic residential allocations, large-scale planning applications and long‑term land promotion projects that require both technical excellence and commercial understanding.

The Role

As an Associate Planner, you will combine project leadership with team development and commercial responsibility.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading major residential planning strategies and strategic land promotions
• Managing client accounts and ensuring repeat instructions
• Supporting Local Plan submissions, growth strategies and examination work
• Overseeing appeal submissions and coordinating inquiry teams
• Mentoring junior planners and supporting performance development
• Managing project budgets, timelines and consultant teams
• Supporting fee proposals, tenders and client pitches

You will be a key figure in ensuring high‑quality delivery across the team.

• Strong background in consultancy or developer‑side planning
• Proven ability to manage complex strategic housing projects
• Strong client‑facing ability and commercial awareness
• Experience mentoring junior staff and supporting team development
• Strong understanding of Local Plan processes and planning strategy
