Buyer - Construction
Location: Nottinghamshire
Salary: £38,000 - £48,000 + package
We are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established civil engineering and construction contractor with a strong presence across the UK. With decades of industry experience and a solid project pipeline, they are now looking to appoint a Buyer to support their growing commercial and procurement function.
Operating within infrastructure and civil engineering projects, the business delivers a wide range of schemes and continues to expand its supply chain and delivery capability.
The Role
As Buyer, you will play a key role in sourcing and procuring materials, plant, and subcontract services to support project delivery. You'll work closely with commercial and operational teams to ensure cost‑effective and timely procurement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract packages
- Source and evaluate suppliers, ensuring best value and quality
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers and subcontractors
- Place and track orders in line with project programmes
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Work closely with site and commercial teams to meet project requirements
- Monitor market trends and identify cost‑saving opportunities
- Ensure compliance with company procurement processes

- Previous experience in a Buyer / Procurement role within construction or civil engineering
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Good understanding of construction materials and supply chain
- Organised and able to manage multiple priorities
- Confident communicator and team player
