Purchasing Officer at Crown Packaging (Barbados) Limited
Job Summary
The Purchasing Officer is responsible for procuring goods and services necessary for Crown Packaging (Barbados) Limited's operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery.
Job Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, and reliability.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with vendors to achieve the best possible value for the company.
- Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with various departments to determine purchasing needs and forecasts.
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery; resolve any discrepancies or issues with suppliers.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information.
- Evaluate supplier performance and build strong, collaborative relationships with key vendors.
- Stay informed of market trends, new products, and technologies relevant to packaging materials and operational supplies.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the purchasing function.
- Ensure compliance with all company procurement policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within a manufacturing or packaging environment.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in using purchasing software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of local and international supply chain dynamics is an asset.
