Traffic Operations Manager | N.Ireland | Logistics | £60k

Overview

Responsible for overseeing day-to-day transport operations, ensuring efficient planning, high service standards, and effective team performance across a busy logistics desk. Acts as the key escalation point for operational issues and drives continuous improvement across processes and people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily desk operations, ensuring adequate staffing and smooth workflow
  • Lead, train, and develop planners and coordinators, including performance reviews and onboarding
  • Act as first point of escalation for driver and customer issues, resolving promptly or escalating where required
  • Monitor service delivery, ensuring all contracts meet performance and quality standards
  • Oversee compliance with transport procedures, documentation, and legal requirements
  • Coordinate with fleet teams to ensure timely servicing, maintenance, and vehicle availability
  • Track driver performance, attendance, and holidays
  • Produce operational reports and highlight risks or improvement opportunities
  • Drive a "fix it now" approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Support wider operations and contribute to business improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Experience in a transport planning or traffic management role within logistics
  • Strong knowledge of UK & Ireland geography and transport regulations
  • Confident communicator across all levels
  • High level of IT literacy (digital-first operation)
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to work to tight deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proactive mindset
  • Flexible approach to working hours and operational demands
  • CPC is desirable
