An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join a highly respected infrastructure and engineering design consultancy, supporting complex projects across the UK.

The organisation operates as an in-house design consultancy within a major infrastructure delivery environment, working across water, heavy industrial, power, and design & build sectors. Based from a modern office in Bridgend, you’ll be part of a growing, flexible design team delivering technically challenging and rewarding schemes nationwide.

The Role

As Principal Civil Engineer, you will take a leading role in the delivery of civil and structural design solutions, applying sound engineering judgement while supporting innovation and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the preparation of outline and detailed designs, including calculations, reports, drawings and specifications in line with relevant standards
  • Planning, directing and controlling resources, tasks and people to deliver projects to agreed time, cost and quality targets
  • Managing and controlling project budgets, with a strong understanding of commercial and contractual matters
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring and development for junior and senior engineers
  • Working collaboratively with clients, contractors and the supply chain to define and deliver project objectives
  • Championing engineering best practice and the application of new and emerging technologies

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • A Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification)
  • Strong experience working to Eurocodes and UK industry standards, with the ability to review and approve designs
  • Proven experience of BIM-led design and use of structural design software such as STAAD Pro, FEM analysis tools or Autodesk Robot
  • A xwzovoh track record of successfully leading teams and managing multi-disciplinary design activities
  • Flexibility to work from other UK offices or project sites on a short-term basis (by agreement)
  • A UK/EEC driving licence
